FurnishNet to Provide Complimentary Internet
Access During San Francisco Market

January 8, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO - Attendees at next week's furniture market at the San Francisco Mart will have complimentary access to the Internet, courtesy of FurnishNet, an independent trade exchange serving the home furnishings industry. FurnishNet is inviting market attendees to visit its Mart 1 lobby outpost for e-mail access, news and information retrieval.

Tim Morton, FurnishNet founder, said three computers with large monitors will be available in a high traffic area called @Market Internet Connection. "As a service to market goers, this is the second consecutive market in San Francisco where FurnishNet will provide Internet access," he said. "During the Summer Market, people told us they appreciated the ability to quickly check their e-mail, while others wanted to keep up on national news or sports scores."

In addition to providing Internet access, FurnishNet will be conducting a brief survey of all market attendees using the service. "For people wanting more information about FurnishNet's electronic commerce objectives and business-to-business activity," Morton explained, "we are referring them to our booth in the Retailer Resource Center, Space 705 Mart 2."

The FurnishNet Exchange, a technology solutions provider, is dedicated to delivering an open exchange platform serving the Home Furnishings industry. Acquired by GERS earlier this year, FurnishNet is leveraging its retail expertise and experience in building electronic trade to pioneer an industrial-strength trade exchange, create an open connection for the industry and provide a systems integration service that will optimize the supply chain, reduce costs, and increase margins.
