Gallery Taps FurnishNet to Manage Electronic
Data Exchange
March 13, 2002
SAN
DIEGO, CA - FurnishNet today announced that
Gallery Corp., which operates 36 Mattress Gallery
stores in southern California, will implement
FurnishNet to manage electronic document exchange.
As an exclusive Simmons sleep shop, Mattress
Gallery will use FurnishNet to support the electronic
exchange of data between its retail stores and
Simmons for all purchase orders, acknowledgements,
advance ship notices, and invoices. By automating
these transactions, Mattress Gallery will improve
order accuracy, reduce order processing, and
accelerate the delivery of merchandise for enhanced
customer service.
"We
briefly looked at using EDI for Mattress Gallery,
but that would have meant high consulting dollars
and open-ended costs," said Jim Ristas, President.
"We selected FurnishNet because they know exactly
how to succeed in getting retailers online.
They have the technical expertise to make it
happen."
Now,
Mattress Gallery will be able to take orders
directly from their retail system and send them
through FurnishNet for direct delivery into
Simmons' corporate information system. By moving
Mattress Gallery's orders from system to system,
FurnishNet will eliminate the errors associated
with manual processing, and also expedite the
processing of acknowledgements from the manufacturer.
FurnishNet will also help Mattress Gallery improve
customer service.
"We
send orders several times a day," noted Ristas.
"Getting them into the system earlier means
that our manufacturer will be able to deliver
at least a day earlier than in the past. This
will have a direct impact on Mattress Gallery's
customer service, as we'll then be able to deliver
to the consumer's home a day earlier."
"Mattress
Gallery had a choice when selecting a way to
automate their business transactions," said
Ron Sellers, Vice President of Sales for FurnishNet.
"We offered them a solution that is fast, practical,
affordable, and easy to use. We look forward
to delivering a solution that will streamline
their communications with Simmons, and also
improve service levels to their customers."
