Top 100 Retailer Bernie & Phyl’s Signs for 50 Vendor Connections

June 20, 2006

Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, based in Norton, MA, has outsourced all EDI operations to FurnishNet, the industry’s leading transaction exchange service. The first phase of the project will provide connectivity with 50 trading partners for electronic exchange of purchase orders, acknowledgements, advance ship notices, and invoices. In phase 2 of the implementation plan, Bernie & Phyl’s will add the FurnishNet Parts Management solution to electronically route parts purchase orders via the Web directly to the manufacturer's parts desk and deliver online notification of order status and fulfillment.

Over 40 of the nation’s Top 100 retailers are now connected to the Furnishnet network for electronic transaction exchange.

FurnishNet integrates web applications, electronic data interchange (EDI), XML, and Email into a unique "Any-to-Any" exchange for the processing of over 300 transaction types electronically between trading partners. FurnishNet is able to translate data files into appropriate formats for the electronic flow of information between trading partners of any size, running on any corporate system. Because the FurnishNet service is able to transfer data without the use of a VAN, the need for expensive EDI mapping software as well as a traditional EDI VAN network are eliminated, thereby reducing expenses and simplifying connectivity.
