Orders sent to FurnishNet are translated into the manufacturer's preferred format then transmitted to the manufacturer's EDI VAN. Acknowledgments, advance ship notices, and invoices pass back over the EDI VAN, are translated into the retailer's preferred format, and delivered. Furthermore, FurnishNet only requires one data map standard from each participant, instead of a separate map for every business partner and transaction.
